Item # 4508-CAR 1955 Indy 500 Car #99 Art Cross - Belanger 1/18 Scale
1955 Indy #99 Art Cross Belanger Motors 1/18 scale by Carousel 1. Limited Edition 1200 Pieces.
In his first Indy 500 in 1952, Art Cross finished 5th and received the first-ever Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year award. The following year he came in 2nd behind winner Bill Vukovich. After 3 years of racing the Indy 500 in dirt-track machines, he finally got to race in a "roadster" in the 1955. Starting from 24th place, he moved up to lead for 24 laps and was running in 2nd place when a connecting rod broke and ended his race on the 168th lap. After the race he retired to the farm that he had bought with his Indy winnings, and although car owners continued to try to entice him to race again, he never did, preferring to spend time with his family.
Detailed cockpit, clear-faced gauges, die-cast engine, full chassis detail, imprinted marking, positionable front wheel, hinged hood.
