Item # 4822-CAR 1972 Indy 500 Car #24 Gordon Johncock - Gulf McLaren 1/18 Scale LE 1200
1972 Indy #24 Gordon Johncock Gulf McLaren 1/18 scale by Carousel 1. Serialized Limited Edition 1200 pieces.
In 1972 USAC rules allowed rear wings and as a result, the cars soared and so did the speeds. Gordon Johncock, who would be one of the premier Indy drivers for nearly 3 decades, qualified his Gulf McLaren to start in the 26th position. After the fastest race in Indy history, Mark Donohue won in his Penske Sunoco McLaren, and Johncock finished a disappointing 20th. Victory would have to wait until 1973, when Johncock would win his first Indy 500 in an accident-marred, rain-shortened race.
Detailed cockpit, clear-faced gauges, die-cast engine, full chassis detail, imprinted marking, positionable front wheel, hinged hood, removable cowling
