1958 Indy Pole #97 Dick Rathmann McNamara Special Watson Roadster 1/18 Scale Carousel 1. Limited Edition 1200 pieces.
In the 1950's NASCAR and USAC, the saying "Braver than Dick Tracy" was changed to "Braver than Dick Rathmann." A.J. Watson arrived at Indy in 1958 with four cars. Three were for Jack Zink, his employer, and a fourth car was for sale. Dick Rathmann's car owner, Lee Elkins, bought it, and the team went together so quickly Rathmann's last name was misspelled on the car with a single 'n.' Dick Rathmann snatched the pole with a 4-lap average of 145.974 mph, with Zink driver Ed Elisian in the 2nd spot. At the green flag, Dick Rathmann led through the first two turns, but he and Elisian entered turn three side by side. Neither backed off before they wrecked, and the crash eliminated another five cars.
